| To tumultuous applause
the Partys Dear Leader, Kim Il Swinney confirmed at the Aberdeen Congress that his
reforms would make the party truly democratic. As smartly turned out members of the
Young Nationalist League provided a colourful shower of lilac blossom, The Chrome-Domed
One confirmed a historic evolutionary step in perfecting the SNP's model of internal
democracy :
"From this day forth, honoured
delegates, let the message go forth: gone are the days when the leadership could be
challenged by branch activists, now we have attained nationalist nirvana: in every respect
the leadership are correct since they are the leadership." |
Political analysts agree
that the party reforms have placed the SNP on the road to a leadership model characterised
by the cult of personality and the historic work will be completed whenever the SNP manage
to find a leader with a personality. Meanwhile, the present incumbent insisted that with
Euro-elections looming, the party needed to get behind the leader : "For too long in
the past, when we have done badly in elections, the party structure has allowed for
buck-passing. Now, with my hands firmly on the electoral tiller, if things go tits up, the
party can lay the blame squarely at my door... Er, hang on, Ive just thought the
implications of that statement through, just forget I said anything." |
