Creative industries strategy: Edinburgh left out, upset but bravely holding back the tears.
In a move not seen since our Saviour departed Dumbarton, the Scottish Executive announced £25m of spending this week without mentioning Edinburgh once. The money will help fund a creative industry initiative centred in Glasgow and Dundee.

Creative industry sources in Edinburgh were said to be "devastated, depressed and just terribly, terribly hurt". The public money, said one source, would have been a tremendous boost to employment black spots like the New Town, Dean Village and Stockbridge. " I know of many people working in the industry who'd just love to create more jobs in the area, but who's going to risk hiring another house servant when the Scottish Executive just kicks us in the teeth like this?"

Elsewhere the breakdown of the budget split was revealed exclusively to the JT. Of the £25m, approximately £24,999,050 will be allocated to developing facilities in Glasgow, leaving £50 to invest in Dundee.

An Executive spokesman explained that the split reflected a long standing agreement within the Executive that Dundee would get less "because we hate the bastards basically."

The £50 is likely to be spent in installing a high speed morse code link between Dundee and civilisation.

Meanwhile, everything gets back to normal in the coming week, with the SE announcing that Edinburgh will be the sole beneficiary of £100m public investment to create a network of high growth PR companies with a view to increasing the export of reams of self-serving sycophantic bullshit on behalf of meglomaniac businessmen, the fags and bevvie community, and arms dealers.
