| The Scottish PR agency,
"Amoral Corporate Communications" has made a successful bid to handle all of the
Devil's promotional strategy for ever and ever. Speaking
to journalists yesterday, agency MD Alistair Avarice hailed the deal as proof that
Scottish PR agencies could compete with the best. "When it comes to saying anything
on behalf of anyone provided the money's right, this deal proves that Scottish PR agencies
are right up there with the big boys."
The deal comes at the end of a difficult trading period for
the agency. Trade gossip suggested that the agency's last big job, promoting the interests
of a geriatric Latin American ex-torturer was not a great success.
Under the rubric, "General Pinochet - what a great
bloke" the agency launched a PR blitz on behalf of the drooling dictator with uneven
results.
Post campaign research suggested that while Pinochet's dire public ratings remained
unchanged, public opinion of PR agencies rated the profession several notches below arms
traders . |
Brushing aside criticism, Mr
Avarice promised that the new campaign would concentrate on re-positioning the Dark Lord
in the public mind from the current view of him as evil incarnate to a "more balanced
perception of the Fallen One as warm, cuddly and more than a little misunderstood." Unusually in this type of diabolic deal making, Lucifer did not
insist in an immediate transfer of mortal soul title, "He checked with his
people," Mr Avarice said, "apparently the whole PR industry has some kind of
block booking going there."
Mr Avarice expressed relief that his agency had secured the
right to represent evil incarnate, "It was either this or pitching for the
Countryside Alliance contract... trying to make those fox murderers look good?
No thank you very much...I'll stick with Satan."
