| Maintaining the
dignity that has made Margo McDonald a byword for propriety in the often grubby world of
SNP infighting, Ms McDonald maintained a tight-lipped silence in the face of criticism
from party supremo John Swinney - apart from describing the slap-headed one as: "A
complete waste of space, air, connective tissue and the genetic material that went into
his creation." Ms MacDonald was responding to Mr Swinneys
displeasure at what he saw as an overly uncritical assessment of the (ahem) "robust
logic" practised by French madhomme Le Pen. Ms McDonald argued that it was difficult
to fault Mr Le Pen s "pensee politique" or, in English, racist
bletherings. "He must have something going for him," Ms McDonald argued
persuasively, "Look how many people voted for him." |
Indeed, and a lot of
people voted for Hitler as well so thats alright then. Meanwhile,
as part of our southern cousins St. Georges day celebration, John Swinney
turned up on the set of Coronation Street to reassure English people that it was
acceptable to be English.
30 million-odd souls slept a little easier after John told a nation in a
breath-holding situation, "Ive decided that it's OK for you to be English. No,
really, it's OK. Carry on."
Bemused production staff on the set of the long running soap whiled away the
intervals between takes wondering who the fuck the speccy bloke was, standing around
talking to himself. |
