"What would you like to moan about?"
Scotland’s Children's Commissioner this week launched a consultation amongst the nation’s youth to find out what they wanted her to do for the next two years. Perhaps wisely, kids are only allowed to respond under 7 rather anodyne and politically-correct headings.

I mean, could you imagine giving Scottish kids carte blanche to ask for anything?

  • (Shona, age 6) "I would like there to be world peace and for everyone to have plenty of food to eat."
  • (Cameron, age 14)" I would like you to make Fiona in fifth year go out with me and stop treating me like a kid".
  • (Callum, age 7). "I wish people would be nicer to animals".

  • (Brian, age 13) "I wish I had X-ray glasses. Never mind why."
  • (Asam, age 8) "I pray for peace in the Middle-East."
  • (Fiona age16) "I wish that Cameron kid would stop following me ‘round. He’s freakin me out."
  • (Cameron age 14) "Forget what I said earlier about Fiona, she’s a slag and I hate her. Can I just have Brian’s glasses instead?"
Inside: Apparently kids, including our monosyllabic teenagers, can text in their wish-list to the commissioner. Is there a special predictive function for "mmmuh, umuum" then?
