| News early last week that visitor
numbers to Scotland were down led the STB to blame the strength of sterling against the
Euro. Speaking from a board "seminar"
being held in the Seychelles, Malcolm Matrix, Marketing Director, claimed that the picture
wasn't all bad news. "We know that the number of Scots holidaying at home is
up."
And how did the Board know Scots were in fact
"holidaying at home" as opposed to say, going out for a pint of milk and a bit
of a walk? |
Mr Matrix replied, "It's all
to do with secret sums that only we know how to do
." Later last week, the BTA announced that Euroland visitor numbers were
actually up in the rest of the UK and contacted again, Mr Matrix confessed to being rather
flummoxed and asked for a day or two beside the pool to think up another equally plausible
excuse. |
