Tourist-free Scotland: No need for panic says STB director, orders another daiquiri …
News early last week that visitor numbers to Scotland were down led the STB to blame the strength of sterling against the Euro.

Speaking from a board "seminar" being held in the Seychelles, Malcolm Matrix, Marketing Director, claimed that the picture wasn't all bad news. "We know that the number of Scots holidaying at home is up."

And how did the Board know Scots were in fact "holidaying at home" as opposed to say, going out for a pint of milk and a bit of a walk?

Mr Matrix replied, "It's all to do with secret sums that only we know how to do…."

Later last week, the BTA announced that Euroland visitor numbers were actually up in the rest of the UK and contacted again, Mr Matrix confessed to being rather flummoxed and asked for a day or two beside the pool to think up another equally plausible excuse.
