| VisitScotland, Scotland's
grammatically challenged tourist agency, announced late this week the appointment of
another new chief executive who is expected to be in post for at least five days. Following
the departure of Rod Lynch over possible conflicts of interest, agency executives were
quick to emphasise that the new appointment reflects the need to take a long term
strategic view of tourism in Scotland and fully expect not to have to re-appoint again
until sometime next week.

world class organisation" (©Wendy

of his new appointment. |
Mr McLeod will combine his new
duties with existing jobs; driving the island postbus, the odd painting and decorating
project and working as a barman in a local pub. "It shouldn't be a problem", Mr
McLeod told the JT, "I finish the postbus run by 2pm, that leaves a couple of hours
free to develop a multi-matrix model for long term visitor strategy before the pub
opens." Mr McLeod concedes that the £140K salary will come in
handy but has no plans to spend much time travelling abroad to promote Scotland as a
visitor destination, "I went to Glasgow once but I don't plan to going anywhere
foreign again."
Meanwhile, lawyers acting for last week's deposed chief executive thanked
visitScotland in advance for the enormous legal fees soon to be coming their way. |
